Upregulation of Circulating miR-195-3p in Heart Failure

Abstract: Objectives: Many circulating microRNAs (miRs) have been shown to have potential biomarker effects in cardiovascular disease. We studied the dysregulation of circulating miR-195-3p in patients with heart failure (HF) to elucidate its value as a potential biomarker for HF. Methods: Eight ischemic HF (IHF) patients, 8 nonischemic HF patients (NIHF), and 8 healthy volunteers (matched by age and sex - normal controls [NCs]) were chosen for miR sequencing. The plasma RNA was extracted, and a small RNA library of HF … Show more

“…Increased expression of PVT1 and decreased expression of miR-190a-5p were found in the serum specimens of CHF patients, and the aberrant expression of the two molecules had relatively high diagnostic accuracy. Currently, the diagnosis of CHF is limited by the cost of the ultrasound examination and lowspecificity of established circulating biomarkers, such as BNP and NT-proBNP (6,7,33). In the current study, the combination of PVT1 and miR-190a-5p presented a diagnostic potential for CHF with considerable sensitivity and specificity, providing a novel potential approach for the diagnosis of CHF.…”

“…The two circulating lncRNAs NRON and myosin heavy chain associated RNA transcripts actas two candidate diagnostic markers, with the ability to distinguish HF patients from healthy controls (36). In a previous study, circulating upregulated miR-195-3p was described as a potential biomarker for the diagnosis of HF (7). To further improve the diagnosis of CHF, the present study provided evidence for PVT1 and miR-190a-5p as two candidate diagnostic biomarkers, and the combination of PVT1 and miR-190a-5p as markers suggested a more effective clinical significance for CHF diagnosis.…”

“…These data suggest that downregulation of miRNA-195 in human LSCC tissues may be one of the molecular events causing its development. Ina previous study (31), miRNA-195 was observed to regulate a number of target proteins, which are associated with the cell cycle, apoptosis and viability in multiple diseases, such as cancer, schizophrenia and heart failure (31)(32)(33). However, to the best of our knowledge, the expression level of miR-195 in human LSCC, its clinical role and its prognostic value have not been fully investigated thus far.…”

“…For instance, miR-150 has been reported to ameliorate ACS by restoring the function of VECs, such as cell proliferation and migration [26]. Darabi et al [27] indicated that the elevated expression of miR-21 might be associated with the pathogenesis of ACS by regulating inflammation. In this study, we found that the serum expression of miR-145 was significantly decreased in the patients with ACS compared with the healthy controls.…”
