Upregulated Vav2 in gastric cancer tissues promotes tumor invasion and metastasis

Abstract: Several studies have proved that Vav2 gene is associated with the carcinogenesis of some tumors, but the relationship between Vav2 gene and gastric cancer remains unclear. Purpose of this study is to detect the expression of Vav2 protein in gastric cancer tissues and to evaluate the clinical value of Vav2. Furthermore, both effect of Vav2 gene on invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells and its mechanism are investigated in vitro. Results showed that positive rate of Vav2 protein was significantly highe… Show more

“…MMP3 over-expression in CAFs was observed in mammary glands [70], MMP2 is over-expressed in gliomas [71], whereas MMP1 was observed to increase in melanoma [72] and breast cancer [73]. Moreover, CAFs are actively involved in the secretion of proteases, like uPA, which can cleave and activate MMPs [74].…”

“…Moreover, Vav2/3 overexpression and activation has been reported from multiple cancers, including metastatic melanoma, endometrial, cervical, breast, and prostate cancer (Cook et al, 2014) (Table 1). In gastric cancer, Vav2/3 expression and activities were related to the degree of tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and higher grade invasive and metastatic tumors (Tan et al, 2017a). Vav2 is also activated in papillary thyroid cancer, being phosphorylated through EphB3 tyrosine kinase receptors (Li et al, 2017).…”

“…However, the outcomes are often poor, with 5-year survival less than 10 % globally [2]. The high metastatic nature of the GC contributes to poor prognosis of patients [10]. The pathogenesis of GC involves several signaling pathways and abnormal gene expression patterns which are often accompanied by inactivation of tumor suppressor genes and activation of oncogenes [2].…”
