Upper Tract Recurrences Following Radical Cystectomy:

Abstract: The incidence of upper tract recurrence following radical cystectomy is low (3%). However, the incidence of bilateral tumors (31.3%) and locally advanced stage at the time of operation (58%) is higher than expected for upper tract tumors in the general population. Survival of patients with upper tract recurrence is poor, with a median of 10 months.

“…The incidence of UUTTs following cystectomy ranges from 2.4 to 8.5% [6, 7, 8, 10, 11](table 3). In our patients, UUTTs mostly appear in patients cystectomized for supTCC (11.1%) than for invTCC (3.1%), as was published by others showing a relapse rate of 6–16 and 1.9–2.7%, respectively [7, 9, 13].…”
