Upper critical solution temperature lubricants for CPVC

Abstract: Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is often used in injection molding for products that demand high heat resistance. However, proper control of its flow properties is difficult. To improve flow behavior some internal lubricants are usually used, but they reduce heat resistance of the products. Upper critical solution temperature (UCST) lubricants were found to enhance its flow properties, and also high heat resistance was retained. They act as internal lubricants during processing, improving flow and phase … Show more

“…Chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC) is one of the most widely used engineering materials because of its better mechanical properties and lower flammability . Nevertheless, it has been reported that CPVC is more difficult to process. Moreover, it has poor toughness, which limits its application.…”

“…It is well known to have a higher softening temperature, higher heat deflection temperature, lower flammability, lower smoke properties, and chemical inertness than conventional polyvinylchloride (PVC). However, in the literature , it has been reported that CPVC is more difficult to process. Moreover, it has poor impact strength, which limits the application of CPVC.…”
