Updating the effective range expansion of low-energyN $$\bar N$$ -scattering

Abstract: Low energy N?4 scattering is reanalyzed using the new data on annihilation cross-sections from CERN [1], the tip-absorption measurement from BNL [-2] and the annihilation width of the 2p state in antiprotonic hydrogen [-3]. Imposing the condition that the imaginary part of the effective range is negative we find low energy scattering parameters which interpolate between the existing ITEP [4] and CERN/Heidelberg [5] values. PACS: 13.75.-n; 13.75.cs Experiments in low energy NbT-scattering have developed greatl… Show more

“…For a comparison, the scattering length for 1 S 0 partial wave is organized in Table 1 for the different pp interactions used for treatment of J/ψ → γpp in this paper. The one given from Grach et al [45] and Pirner et al [46] include the Coulomb correction but not for others. However, one should not take this as the reason for the quantum differences, since Coulomb correction induces a shift of only about 0.1 fm [47].…”

“…As a result, commonly used hadronic rescattering models, such as UrQMD, assume the annihilation between all baryon-antibaryon pairs has the same cross-section as the proton-antiproton interaction, when taken at the same √ s [3]. This process for pp was studied in great detail theoretically [8,9,10,11]. Some models aim to describe the baryon interaction via meson-exchange interaction [12,13,14], others use the Chiral Effective Theory [15].…”
