Up-regulation of MARVEL domain-containing protein 1 (MARVELD1) accelerated the malignant phenotype of glioma cancer cells via mediating JAK/STAT signaling pathway

Abstract: This work aimed to research the function of MARVEL domain-containing protein 1 (MARVELD1) in glioma as well as its functioning mode. Bioinformatics analysis was utilized to assess the MARVELD1 expression in glioma tissues and its relationship with grade and prognosis, based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) databases. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation, and Transwell assays were carried out to determine the impact of MARVELD1… Show more

“…MARVELD1 expression positively correlated with chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer [ 41 ] and a poor prognosis in gliomas [ 42 ], and it was regarded as the genomic instability-derived gene prognostic signature [ 43 ]. These studies note the importance of MARVELD1 in maintaining genomic stability and affecting therapeutic efficacy.…”

“…e correlation between the JAK2/ STAT3 pathway and glioma is extremely high. Phosphorylation of JAK2 activates STAT3 expression and induces abnormal proliferation of glioma cells, which finally leads to further deterioration of the disease and endangers life [26][27][28]. In addition, some studies have pointed out that the JAK2/STAT3 pathway can act as an upstream immune signal to regulate the PI3K/AKT pathway and affect the therapeutic effect of glioma [29].…”
