Abstract: Recent advances in molecular and metagenomic analyses have enhanced the ability to precisely determine the microbiota of hypersaline environments of marine origin, such as solar salterns, saline lakes, and hypersaline soils, uncovering numerous yet-to-be-isolated prokaryotic groups.
