Unusual prenatal sign of duodenal atresia and megaduodenum-case presentation

Abstract

Nevertheless, 33% of caecum rupture cases are of unknown origin. Diagnosis is mostly made by clinical examination supported by abdomen radiograph and abdomen computerized tomography. The prevention of caecum rupture is very important. Endoscopic colon decompression and the proper therapeutic treatment of the colon distention causes contribute to the caecum rupture prevention. The therapeutic procedure of caecum rupture is right hemicolectomy. The mortality rate ranges between 30% and 72%. Conclusions: The caecum rupture after Caesarean Section is a rare complication with increased morbidity and mortality. Paralytic ileus and Ogilvie syndrome are included in the differential diagnosis. The proper conservative therapeutic treatment and colon decompression prevent the colon overdistention and the upcoming caecum rupture, decreasing its mortality rate.
