She was very pale and tachycardic with well-contracted uterus of 18-week size but had a cervical tear extending up to the left fornix. “…3 The known precipitating factors for CL in literature being previous interventions on the cervix 6-14% (polypectomy, LEEP, cerclage), induction of labour (threefold increased risk), use of Prostaglandins for induction of labour, precipitate labour, operative vaginal deliveries and birth weight > 3500gms. [1][2][3][4][5] However, in our experience of the known risk factors, the most common association were with induction of labour and operative vaginal delivery. In recent years the rate of induction of labour have exponentially increased.…”

“…Indeed, misoprostol increases the risk of corporal rupture in women with uterine scar 12 . Vaginal misoprostol can also decrease the macrophage function resulting in the overgrowth of clostridial organisms and developmental gangrene of gastrointestinal and reproductive tracts 13 . However, cervical lesions after prostaglandin application were more often reported in midtrimester abortions as highlighted before 5 7 .…”

“…Reports in the literature indicate that worldwide, the disease has high morbidity and high mortality [1]. In its early stages, the disease may simulate common febrile conditions and other illnesses [2]. An adequate understanding of its risk factors, diagnostic features, and aetiopathogenesis is, therefore, necessary for early diagnosis, informed, aggressive treatment, and good prognosis.…”
