“…The renal sympathetic nerve fibres innervate the renal blood vessels (O'Connor, 1962;McKenna & Angelokos, 1968;Pomeranz, Birtch & Barger, 1968;Fourman & Moffat, 1971) and changes in renal blood flow which could result from the inhibition of neural activity may contribute to changes in urine flow. It has been suggested that increased blood flow to the kidney may form part of the reflex response to stimulation of left atrial receptors but the evidence is inadequate (Gauer, Henry & Sieker, 1961;Arndt, Reineck & Gauer, 1963;Lydtin & Hamilton, 1964;Lydtin, 1969). The present results indicate that further studies are needed of the neural as well as humoral factors in the efferent pathway of the diuresis produced by left atrial receptor stimulation.…”
