Summary Results of Lp tests on unrelated individuals and members of families are presented. The Lp types are independent of sex and age. The calculations of the Lp frequencies in the Norwegian population are now based on tests of 1109 unrelated individuals. A frequency of 0.1948 was found for the gene Lpa. Members of 175 Norwegian families with a total of 646 children have been tested for the Lp(a) factor (94 of the families have been included in an earlier paper). The distribution of the Lp types in the family material confirms that the Lp(a) factor is determined by a simple, autosomal, dominant mode of inheritance. No exception from the postulated mode of inheritance, in addition to the one reported earlier, was found. The results of the population studies so far performed, are presented. Résumé Les résultats concernant le système Lp chez des individus non apparentés et chez des membres de même famille sont présentés. Les types Lp sont indépendants du sexe et de l'âge. Les calculs de la fréquence du facteur Lp dans la population norvégienne sont actuellement établis sur la base de tests pratiqués chez 1109 personnes non apparentées. La fréquence du gène Lpa est de 0.1948. Les membres de 175 families norvégiennes avec un total de 646 enfants ont été examinés en ce qui concerne le facteur Lp(a) (y compris parmi ces dernières, 94 families provenant d'un article précédent). La distribution des propriétés Lp dans ce matériel familial confirme que le facteur Lp(a) est conditionné par un mode héréditaire simple autosomal dominant. Aucune exception concernant ce mode héréditaire n'a été trouvée. Les résultats des examens pratiqués auprès de la population sont présentés. Zusammenfassung Der Faktor Lp(a) wurde an 1109 nicht verwandten Norwegern bestimmt; für das Gen Lpa ergab sich eine Häufigkeit von 0.1948. Es wurde gezeigt, daß Lpa unabhängig vom Geschlecht und vom Alter vererbt wird. Der Faktor Lp(a) wurde ebenfalls bei den Mitgliedern von 175 norwegischen Familien mit insgesamt 646 Kindern bestimmt. Die Häufigkeitsverteilung von Lp(a)in diesem Familienuntersuchungsgut bestätigt, daß dieser Faktor autosomal dominant vererbt wird. Es wurde nur eine schon früher mitgeteilte Ausnahme von diesem Erbgang gefunden. Es wird eine Zusammenstellung über die bisherigen Bestimmungen von Lp(a) bei vcrschiedenen Bevölkerungen gegeben.
