Abstract:In natural convection (high Richardson number Ri), a high Prandtl number (Pr) leads to thinner thermal boundary layers, enlarging the thermal gradient and hence the enhancement of buoyancy effect. In forced convection (low Ri), a high Pr introduces thicker velocity boundary layers. In mixed convection scenarios, where both forced and natural convection are significant, the interaction between Pr and Ri determines the resultant flow pattern and heat transfer characteristic. Three tandem circular cylinders with … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
