Unsteady heat transfer from a circular fin with nonlinear dissipation

Abstract: Abstract. Time-dependent heat flow in a longitudinal or circular fin with coupled convection and radiation transfer at its surface is presented.The problem is solved for two cases. First, the fin at ambient temperature throughout is exposed to a harmonic oscillation at its base for zero time. Second, the fin having a nonuniform temperature profile initially, receives a periodic temperature variation at the base. The appropiate sink temperatures are maintained constant.
