Unsteady free convection–radiation flow over a vertical wall embedded in a porous medium

Abstract: SUMMARYA numerical solution for the transient two-dimensional free convection flow of viscous dissipative fluid over an infinite vertical plate through a porous medium bounded, taking into account the thermal radiation, is analysed. The fluid is grey, and acts as a radiation emitting and absorbing (but non-scattering) medium. The influence of the non-dimensional parameters such as the Forchheimer coefficient (Fo), the permeability parameter (P), the Eckert number (Ec) and the radiation parameter (R) on the vel… Show more

“…For example, Zueco et al [29] studied the unsteady thermal radiation in an enclosure using NSM. Other studies include [30], [31], [32]. The starting point is the set of ordinary differential equations, one for each control volume, obtained either by spatial discretization of the equations.…”

“…It is assumed that a first-order chemical reaction between the diffusing species and the fluid exists. Under the above assumptions, the governing equations are based on the usual conservation laws of mass, linear momentum, energy, and mass diffusion given by Muthucumaraswamy and Kulaivel [8], England and Emery [10], Ogulu and Makinde [11], and Zueco [12]:…”

“…Ogulu and Makinde [11] obtained a closed form solution for unsteady hydromagnetic free convection flow of a radiating fluid past a vertical plate with constant heat flux. Zueco [12] investigated the effects of radiation on free convection unsteady flow past a semiinfinite vertical plate embedded in a porous medium. A few other works of interest in this area can be found in [13 -18].…”

“…The unsteady flow through a highly porous medium in the presence of radiation was studied by Raptis and Perdikis (2004). The effects of radiation and viscous dissipation on the transient natural convection-radiation flow of viscous dissipation fluid along an infinite vertical surface embedded in a porous medium, by means of network simulation method, investigated by Zueco (2008). The effects of radiation and chemical reaction on natural convection flows of a Newtonian fluid along a vertical surface embedded in a porous medium presented by Mahmud and Chamkha (2010).…”
