Abstract

A new family of hybrid polyoxometalates associating anionic decahydrodecaborate clusters with Anderson-type polyoxometalate.

“…Diab et al succeeded to functionalize the [Mn III Mo 6 O 18 (TRIS) 2 ] 3À Anderson POM with two decaborate clusters by reaction of an excess of the carbonyl cluster [B 10 H 9 CO] À with the amine groups of the TRIS ligands (figure 6). [82] The coupling of both components was evidenced by various techniques, especially by 11 B NMR (Figure 7a), which constitutes a very efficient tool for chemistry of borate derivatives and by electrochemistry (Figure 7b), which elaborates the electronic effect of the decaborate clusters on the Mn III central atom of the Anderson POM. Though this constitutes the first and only example of chemical coupling between these two families of compounds, it opens the route towards multifunctional molecular systems considering the large variety of POMs.…”
