“…The importance of negative urgency in predicting classes of individuals with cocaine as the primary substance is in line with studies relating cocaine dependence severity to negative urgency (Albein-Urios et al, 2012;Cándido et al, 2012). Also, a recent study reported a significant association between the medial orbitofrontal volume and higher negative urgency, which suggests that alterations in the neural integrity within this area may drive mood-related impulsivity in cocaine-dependent individuals (Irizar et al, 2020). Impairments in neural subtracts of motor inhibition (Garavan et al, 2008), which may affect the ability of response inhibition in cocaine users (Torres et al, 2013), may also explain the observed association among fear, negative urgency, aggression-hostility, and being a member of class 4 (cocaine as primary substance, cannabis as secondary, and additional alcohol/other drugs use).…”
