Abstract:In finite systems driven unitarily across topological phase transitions, the Chern number and the Bott index have been found to exhibit different behaviors depending on the boundary conditions and on the commensurability of the lattice. For periodic boundary conditions, the Chern number does not change for finite commensurate lattices (nor in the thermodynamic limit). On the other hand, the Chern number can change for incommensurate lattices with periodic boundary conditions and the Bott index can change for l… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
