Universal geometrical scaling for hadronic interactions

Abstract: It is shown that defining a suitable saturation momentum $Q_s$, the $p_T$ distributions of pp and AA collisions for any centrality and energy depend only on $\tau=p^2_T/Q_s^2$ for $p_T1$, the higher the energy or the larger the size of the participant nuclei, the larger suppression present the respective spectra. The integrated spectrum gives a fraction of the hard multip… Show more

“…For instance, in Ref. [28] the proton saturation scale Q 2 s,p is obtained from the multiplicities of charged hadrons in pp collisions by using local parton-hadron duality and geometric scaling property (similar investigations were done for pA [29] and AA collisions [30]). We present the probable region where the peaks occur, κ ≈ a × Q s,A (x IP ) (a is a constant of order of unity), and it was shown that the quantity κ 2 σ scaled presents universal behavior as a function of the scaling variable, τ = κ/Q s .…”

“…Recently, it has been shown that in pp collisions the p t spectra of charged particles exhibit geometrical scaling, which is also satisfied in nucleus-nucleus collisions [153,154]. Using proper normalizations it was shown that in any type of collision for any centrality and energy the different distributions approximately are lying on the same curve for low and moderate p t [155], namely…”

“…(20) as 200 MeV/c is adopted, one obtain κ 2 = 1.4 − 1.8. It is interesting to extract Q sat from other reaction such as pA [57] and A-A [58] collision and to discuss the relationship between the fluctuation of multiplicity and that of the saturation momentum. However, we plan to investigate those issues at some other opportunity.…”
