“…Furthermore regarding common characteristics, AP possessors have shown to exhibit more autistic traits (Brown et al 2003;Dohn et al 2012;Wenhart, Bethlehem, et al 2019) and rather an "autistic-typical" cognitive style, namely the processing of local information in expense of global ones (Mottron et al 2000;Foxton et al 2003), which is observable not only in the auditory but also in the visual domain (Costa-Giomi et al 2001;Chin 2003;Ziv and Radin 2014;Wenhart, Hwang, et al 2019). As another overlapping feature, imaging studies pointed out that specific hyperfunctioning, such in the cases of AP, synesthesia or other savant skills, local hyperconnectivity between the involved brain areas often underlies (Hänggi et al 2008;Loui et al 2010;Jäncke, Langer, et al 2012;Mottron et al 2013;Elmer et al 2015;Brauchli et al 2019).
