“…It could be more challenging to the surgeon for many reasons, including the difficulty of obtaining isolated lung ventilation due to the lack of a double-lumen endotracheal tube in young children, in addition to the lack of appropriate instruments with the curved tip specially designed for uniportal VATS operations. A few reports and studies have recently been published on the utilization of uniportal VATS for anatomical resections in pediatrics [7,[16][17][18] . However, the literature does not yet contain a report on subxiphoid uniportal VATS anatomical resection in a pediatric patient.…”

“…The surgical literature contains very few cases, which have been conducted only by experts in this field, and most centers in the world still adopt the traditional methods, either open thoracotomy or the multiportal VATS technique [1,2] . After gaining extensive experience in single-port surgery in all its forms in adults and performing it at an advanced level, we started to apply this technique in children as well [3][4][5][6][7] . One of the challenges a surgeon may face during a lobectomy in children through the intercostal approach is the small space between the ribs, which may make the instrumentation very difficult and challenging [7] .…”

“…Thoracic surgeons and their teams tend to publish their most notable contributions, even with the somewhat limited research in Palestine. The most common focus is on publishing complicated cases of uniportal VATS, reporting uniportal VATS lobectomy in pediatrics (12), in addition to publishing original articles and other case reports (7).…”

“…Nearly a decade after the initial reports from Rocco et al on the use of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (U-VATS) for intermediate therapeutic procedures in the form of nonanatomical wedge resection of nodules (5), the first lobectomy was performed by Gonzalez et al (6), and Successive reports of anatomical segmentectomies (7), pneumonectomies (8), complex bronchial (9), and en bloc chest wall resections (10) followed. Shaqqura et al (11) reported on U-VATS lobectomy in a 9week-old patient, Chang SL reported three cases of one-lung ventilation using uniblocker bronchial blockers for infants in U-VATS (12), but no other study has yet described the U-VATS for infants with PS. The children's chest includes small cavum space and narrow intercostal space, making it challenging to perform U-VATS compared to other surgical procedures, such as multiportal VATS (13).…”
