“…In our case, too, a small dysplastic kidney was visualized on the initial enhanced CT. In addition, and as demonstrated by Borer et al [10], delayed CT demonstrated the distal ureter entering the vaginal wall and contrast medium in the vagina. These unique features yielded a definite diagnosis, which was confirmed by means of isotopic renal scintigraphy and vaginoscopy followed by retrograde urography under general anesthesia just before the surgical repair.…”

“…Probably a necessary condition for this mechanism is that the ureteric bud has not yet integrated in the urogenital sinus when the müllerian duct reaches its level along the wolffian duct: it is so if the ureteric bud originates too cranially on the wolffian duct. According to Borer et al [6] there is less renal dysplasia in genital tract ureteric ectopia when it is direct than when it is mediated by a Gartner duct cyst. The ectopia into a Gartner duct cyst comes from a very ectopic situation of the ureteric bud on the wolffian duct, and so results in a high degree of renal dysplasia, in accordance to Mackie and Stephens [30].…”

“…But in our neonatal case of ectopic ureter into the uterus cavity, the girl did not have any cyst: the opening into the uterus was straight. Some other cases in literature did not have any mesonephric remnant duct: the ureter opened into the cervix [1], the uterus [13,33], or the vaginal cul-de-sac [6,21].…”

“…Distal ectopic insertion of the ureter occurs when the ureteric bud originates from the mesonephric duct more anteriorly than normal; consequently, the ureter remains Uterus after splitting: 1 two independent bodies, 2 horn, 3 cervix of each body, 4 just one uterus was opened to the vestibule attached to the mesonephric duct, migrates more caudally than normal and absorbs or inserts into either the urinary tract, distal to the bladder, or the reproductive tract. Occurring much less frequently is a single system ectopic ureter (Schlussel and Retik 2002) and rarer still is the unilateral single system ectopic ureter draining an ectopic hypoplastic and/or displastic kidney (Borer et al 1993).…”
