Unifying CP violations of quark and lepton sectors

Abstract: A preliminary determination of the Dirac phase in the PMNS matrix is δ PMNS ≈ − π 2 . A rather accurately determined Jarlskog invariant J in the CKM matrix is close to the maximum. Since the phases in the CKM and PMNS matrices will be accurately determined in the future, it is an interesting problem to relate these two phases. This can be achieved in a families-unified grand unification if the weak CP violation is introduced spontaneously à la Froggatt and Nielsen at a high energy scale, where only one meaning… Show more

“…The CKM phase is close to 90 degrees in the Kim-Seo (KS) parametrization [23] and the PMNS phase is −90 degrees (but with a large error bars) [24]. Even, there exists an attempt to unify these CP phases [25].…”

“…(14), To build a model, leading to (17), one must find out the mass matrices M (ν) and M (l) with appropriate insertions of e ±iδKS . As suggested in [31], if we use the KS parametrization for the CKM matrix given in [20] and again the KS parametrization for the PMNS matrix [30] given in Eq. (17) and the same CP phase α appears in the CKM and PMNS phases, we expect the unitary triangles take the forms given in Fig.…”
