We show that an optical transparency can be obtained by using only one single magneto-optical ring resonator. This effect is based on the splitting of counterclockwise and clockwise modes in the ring resonator. Within a proposed resonator-waveguide configuration the superposition between the two degeneracy broken modes produces a transparency window, which can be closed, open, and modified by tuning the applied magnetic field. This phenomenon is an analogue of Autler-Townes splitting, and the magnetic field is equivalent to the strong external pump field. We provide a theoretic analysis on the induced transparency, and numerical demonstrate the effect by using full-wave simulation. Feasible implication of this effect and potential applications are also discussed.

Topological rainbows (TRs) possess the potential to separate and localize topological photonic states across different frequencies. However, previous works on TRs have been confined to a single-frequency band. Furthermore, the achievement of multiband TRs within a single structure is still a significant challenge. In this paper, a composed structure waveguide is designed based on Penrose-triangle photonic crystals. By adjusting the size of scatterers and introducing non-Hermitian terms, we successfully realize dual-band TRs. This achievement will not only enhance the uniformity of the electric field intensity distribution but also provide the potential to introduce a new avenue for the development of robust photonic devices dedicated to processing vast amounts of data information.

Adjustable enhanced Goos-Hänchen shift in a magneto-optic photonic crystal waveguide

We have presented adjustable enhanced Goos-Hänchen (GH) shift in a magneto-optical photonic crystal (MOPC) waveguide. The waveguide consists of a top layer of ferrite rods and a lower MOPC with opposite biased dc external magnetic fields (EMFs), and it supports both odd-like and even-like modes simultaneously. The simulation results show the odd-like mode can cause an enhanced negative GH shift, while the even-like mode can result in an enhanced positive GH shift. The physical reason for such negative and positive GH shifts is attributed to the efficient mode coupling and propagation behaviors of the electromagnetic (EM) wave in the waveguide. Furthermore, we have realized the switchable negative/positive GH shift by altering the direction combination of the EMFs. In addition, the magnitudes of both GH shifts can be adjusted by changing the strength of EMF or the width of the waveguide. These results provide new ways to control the transmission behaviors of EM wave and hold promise in applications such as detections, optical switches, and sensors.
