Unfree Labour and Value Productivity: Challenges for the Marxian Labour Theory of Value

Abstract: This paper explores the question: does unfree labour produce value? The paper does not answer the question. Rather, it contends that, no matter how Marxists answer the question, they end up either (1) relinquishing the view that labour is the only source of value or (2) appealing to an apparently bogus distinction in order to hang on to the view.
