Unexpected Synthetic Routes to Lanthanide Chalcogenido Clusters:  Sm₈Se₆(SePh)₁₂(THF)₈ and [Sm₇S₇(SePh)₆(DME)₇]⁺

Like the dication, the Hg-Se bond geometries of the dianion in this study are consistent with the Hg-Se bonds found in similar oligomeric or polymeric structures (Berardini et al, 1995;Bettenhausen et al, 1998;Freedman et al, 1997;Kim et al, 1991;Magull et al,1991), which average 2.68 Å.
