“…51 In addition, numerous reports document PET or PET-CT scan detection of unsuspected metastases to unusual distant sites such as the small bowel and skeletal muscle, thereby importantly changing the clinical stage and management of individual patients. [52][53][54] The brain remains problematic because of the small size of most brain metastases, background brain F-fl uoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) uptake, and the variable biologic characteristics of brain metastases, which can be either hypermetabolic or hypometabolic. 55 However, in one series, the accuracy of integrated PET-CT scanning for brain metastases rivaled that of diagnostic brain CT scanning, and the need for a separate brain CT scan was obviated.…”

“…However, lymphoma is not so uncommon, accounting for approximately 20-40% of all malignancies in small intestine [15]. Lee et al reported the case of small intestine metastasis of lung cancer [16]. To our best knowledge, this is the first report which demonstrated FDG PET/CT finding of primary small intestine cancer with lung metastasis.…”

“…A study by Yang et al 4 found symptomatic gastrointestinal metastasis in 1% of patients with primary lung carcinomas; however, McNeill et al 9 found 10% of lung cancer patients had small bowel metastasis at postmortem, all of which were asymptomatic. We have identified three cases in the literature where NSCLC metastases have been the cause of small bowel intussusception7 8 10 and our case is of particular importance because it resulted in the accurate diagnosis of the lung primary lesion.…”
