Understanding wellbeing in the context of modern culture

Abstract: Questions about what constitutes the ‘good life’ are increasingly being asked by policy makers, academics, researchers and members of the public. Sandra Carlisle and colleagues explain the background to the debate, and suggest that modern western values, if unchecked, could pose a risk to people’s wellbeing on a global scale
