“…As in the case of one study examining entrepreneurs in Ghana, which found perceptions of the institutional context strongly influenced entrepreneurial behaviors (Ahsan et al, 2021). Thus, a theoretical examination drawing on this framework to conceptualize what the salient individual level constructs likely are can add substantive value for guiding future empirical examinations in a more focused, manageable way (Ylikoski, 2021).…”

“…the top of the "bathtub") was not originally theorized by Coleman (1990). While some research has offered explanations of this in passing (Dunlop and Radaelli, 2017;Van Oort et al, 2012;Ylikoski, 2021), entrepreneurship research on ecosystems does hint at the possibility that the level of new venture survival itself may influence the subsequent adoption of new and/or revised regulatory frameworks for the entrepreneurship community in that jurisdiction. For example, either organically through community engagement, or through formalized lobbying efforts from the few highly performing outlier ventures with newfound vested political incentives to influence entrepreneurship regulation and institutions (Guo et al, 2017;Pollman, 2018).…”

“…The second reason for adopting Coleman's framework is more specific and has to do with the greater emphasis we want to put on cross‐level and macro‐level relationships in the analysis of organizational change. The framework provides a mechanisms‐based explanation of how a change intervention at the macro level brings about a change in individuals' attitudes and beliefs; how these changes, in turn, bring about changes in individuals' behavior; and, finally, how these behavioral changes cumulate into the macro change to be explained (Ylikoski, 2021). In other words, the focus on mechanisms that is central in Coleman's framework allows us to make theoretically grounded claims about macro‐level associations by specifying the underlying sociological and psychological causal micro‐mechanisms (Cowen et al, 2022).…”

“…Coleman’s scheme can be expanded by considering the complex processes of social values, social inequality, and subjective well-being. Ylikoski’s (2021) study can be referred to as an example. If dualized processes with social values, social inequality, and subjective well-being (materialistic process or postmaterialist process) are clarified, it will reveal two coexisting social mechanisms across the European countries, and it will theoretically contribute to the sociological literature on subjective well-being.…”
