Undersampling and Saturation for Impedance Spectroscopy Performance

Abstract: The development of low-cost impedance spectroscopy devices is limited by the capabilities of low-cost hardware. Impedance spectroscopy requires high accuracy over a large bandwidth and dynamic range for most applications. In this paper, backend signal processing solutions are examined and implemented to improve both the bandwidth and dynamic range of a typical low-cost impedance analyser without modifying the hardware. The bandwidth is improved by undersampling the input waveforms and reconstructing the signal… Show more

“…204 In deciding whether to grant/reject a licence, the Board bases decisions on the conduct of other similarly situated copyright owners or general market practices. 205 If the Board arrives at the decision to grant a licence, the next step will be to consider the terms and conditions of the licence 206 , the duration of the licence, the price (tariff) and payment. In setting the terms and conditions of a licence, the Board will take various factors into account on a case-by-case basis including, (a) the number of copies requested; (b) the level of expected profit; (c) the proposed use; and (d) the nature of the applicant.…”

“…Undersampling, which refers to the sampling technique where the sampling frequency is lower than the requirement of the Nyquist sampling theorem, is an effective method for reducing the sampling frequency [29]. When undersampling a signal, the amplitudes and relative phases between different spectral lines in the resultant spectral analysis will not change [30]. However, undersampling inevitably leads to spectral aliasing, and the true amplitude and phase of each spectral line may not be accurately identified.…”

“…In practice, conventional laboratory-based systems, such as inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), pH metric determination, optical infrared spectroscopy, optical spectroscopy, and impedance spectroscopy [25][26][27][28], are employed as the gold standard to monitor changes in water quality and to detect whether contaminants are present in water. These methods involve collecting water samples from water sources and transporting them, by field officers, to far-off laboratories, where the samples are studied and analyzed.…”
