Undergraduates' perceptions of the prestige and personality characteristics of members of selected occupations in psychology.

Abstract

120 students in an introductory psychology course rated 6 psychology specialties in terms of members' prestige and personality. All the specialties were perceived as having high status. However, clinicians and counselors were viewed more favorably than physiological, experimental, social, and developmental psychologists.
