Unconventional Superconductivity in the BiS2 -Based Layered Superconductor NdO0.71et al.

Abstract: We investigate the superconducting-gap anisotropy in one of the recently discovered BiS2-based superconductors, NdO0.71F0.29BiS2 (Tc ∼ 5 K), using laser-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Whereas the previously discovered high-Tc superconductors such as copper oxides and iron-based superconductors, which are believed to have unconventional superconducting mechanisms, have 3d electrons in their conduction bands, the conduction band of BiS2-based superconductors mainly consists of Bi 6p electrons, … Show more

“…It is consistent with the isotope effect; no isotope effect was observed for the LaO0.6F0.4Bi(S,Se)2 samples with 76 Se and 80 Se isotopes [31]. proposed by theoretical and experimental studies [28,29,32,39], may occur in the BiCh2-based system.…”

“…If this is valid, then the Tc increases when the phonon frequency decreases with the increase of the amplitude of the S1 vibration along the c-axis. proposed by theoretical and experimental studies [28,29,32,39], may occur in the BiCh2-based system. In conclusion, we investigated the crystal structure and anisotropic displacement parameters of REO0.5F0.5BiS2 with RE = La, Ce, Pr, and Nd, where bulk superconductivity is induced by substitutions with a smaller-radius RE, such as Pr or Nd. With the decrease of the RE 3+ ionic radius, the lattice constant a and in-plane Bi-S1 distance monotonically decreased, which generated the in-plane chemical pressure effect.…”

“…Previously, assuming spin fluctuations scenario and the presence of the disconnected Fermi surfaces for the small electron doping the d x y 2 2 --wave symmetry for the BiS 2 systems was obtained [12,30]. At the same time, recent ARPES experiments point towards strongly anisotropic superconducting gap [28], which would not agree with the simple spin-fluctuation mediated scenario with strong interband repulsion. Here, we concentrate on the more realistic situation of the weak spin fluctuations and analyze the potential Cooper-pairing instabilities for the case of disconnected Fermi surface pockets using the LAHA, developed previously and specially designed for the systems when the spin fluctuations are either intermediate or weak [29,36,37].…”
