Uncertainty Evaluation of Best Management Practice Effectiveness Based on the AnnAGNPS Model

Abstract: Uncertainty of best management practices (BMP) effectiveness is an important factor in the development of watershed management plans. This study explored the uncertainty of BMP effectiveness in reducing total nitrogen (TN) load owing to the uncertainty in hydrological parameters, thereby improving their reliability. A watershed model, annualized agricultural non-point source pollution (AnnAGNPS), was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of the four potentially feasible BMPs (i.e., riparian buffer, fertilizat… Show more

“…This result is consistent with the range (515±176 t yr −1 ) obtained by García-Pintado et al (2007). AnnAGNPS was employed to assess the effectiveness of four best management practices (BMPs) in the Shanmei Reservoir watershed (Chen et al, 2022). Risal et al (2022) evaluated the performances of SWAT and HSPF in simulating TN and TP load in Big Sunflower River Watershed.…”

“…However, considerable field monitoring data are required for its application on a regional scale [22]. Quantitative models of NPSP include spatially referenced regressions on watershed attributes (SPARROW) model [23][24][25][26], annualized agricultural NPSP (AnnAGNPSP) model [27][28][29][30], soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) model [31][32][33][34] and hydrological simulation program Fortran model [35][36][37]. These models need numerous parameters for analysis.…”
