“…The compromise stipulated that the multi-denominational primary school ( Volksschule ) would be the rule, but that primary schools of a particular denomination could also be set up at the request of parents. In fact, denominational segregation of schools remained the rule (Kluchert 2012, 444). On class barriers, the SPD won its wish that all children should attend the same primary school, regardless of their social status or the wealth of their parents.…”
