Abstract:This article analyzes the municipal legislature of Rio Grande-RS during the last years of the civil-military dictatorship. The aim of the study is to understand how parties positioned themselves in the face of the end of dictatorship in a National Security Area municipality, which had a mayor appointed by the regime, and a legislature chosen by direct elections to oppose dictatorship.
