Um modelo numérico tridimensional de fluxo de água subterrânea para avaliar a viabilidade da recarga de aquífero gerenciada da na Bacia do Rio Tamne de Gana

Abstract: Increasing population growth and global climatic changes threaten water security in semiarid regions such as Northern Ghana. The Tamnean Plutonic Suite aquifer is the main source of water supply for the inhabitants of the Tamne River basin, which is a transboundary subbasin of the White Volta Basin, Ghana. The basin is a flood-prone area where flooding occurs every rainy season, but there is water scarcity during the dry season, mainly due to poor groundwater resources planning. It is expected that the populat… Show more

“…To properly characterize aquifer systems, several techniques for quantifying groundwater recharge as well as studying recharge processes, have been proposed. Most of these methods involve numerical simulations [3][4][5][6] and the application of natural tracers [2,[7][8][9][10]. Afrifa et al [2] emphasized that the most accurate groundwater recharge estimates can be obtained through a calibrated numerical groundwater flow model.…”
