Ultrawide Color Gamut Perovskite and CdSe/ZnS Quantum-Dots-Based White Light-Emitting Diode with High Luminous Efficiency

Abstract: We demonstrate excellent color quality of liquid-type white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) using a combination of green light-emitting CsPbBr3 and red light-emitting CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs). Previously, we reported red (CsPbBr1.2I1.8) and green (CsPbBr3) perovskite QDs (PQDs)-based WLEDs with high color gamut, which manifested fast anion exchange and stability issues. Herein, the replacement of red PQDs with CdSe/ZnS QDs has resolved the aforementioned problems effectively and improved both stability and ef… Show more

“…R-GQD/SBA-15 white LEDs with color coordinates of (0.3105, 0.3326) have a luminous efficacy of 137.6 lm W –1 at a typical injection current of 20 mA. To the best of our knowledge, this luminous efficacy is the highest recorded in reported studies using green and red QDs as the only color convertors in LEDs. ,,,, , In addition, the inset shows the predictive luminous efficacy that is linearly fit according to the reported values given in Figure g. Without considering the light management of reabsorption, it may require a long time to obtain devices with a high luminous efficacy comparable with that described in this study.…”

“…Generally, the EL device uses perovskite as the active emitter for lighting while PL device takes perovskite as phosphor light converter for white LED and display applications. Since ionic perovskites are relatively unstable under continuous electroluminescence excitation,35 up to date, perovskite PL converter devices normally possess longer lifetime and higher efficiency than EL devices 35–38. The ambient stability of perovskite NW arrays was also tested.…”
