Ultraviolet Sky Surveys

Abstract: Among all spectral bands, the ultraviolet has long been neglected, despite the advantage of small space experiments: the sky is very dark, thus detection of faint objects does not compete against an enhanced background (O'Connell 1987) and the telescope construction techniques are very similar (at least longward of ∼50 nm) to those of optical astronomy.
