Drikos, GeorgPolarisations-UV-absorptionsspektroskopische und kristallographische Untersuchung der Kristalle von all-trans und 11-ois Retinal An extrem dünnen Kristallplättchen von Isoneren des Senchromophors Retinal sind mit linear polarisiertem Licht im sichtbaren und UV-Bereich bei Zimmertemperatur Absorptionsmessungen mit einem Mikroskop-Photometer durchgeführt worden. Die Absorptionsspektren der Kirstalle von Retinal weisen bereits bei dieser Temperatur besser separierte Banden auf als die entsprechenden Spektren in Lösungen bzw. Glas-Matrizen bei tiefen Temperaturen. Zusätzlich zeigen diese Spektren eine charakteristische Polarisationsabhängigkeit. Für eine Auswertung dieser Polarisationsabhängigkeit, d.h. zur Bestimmung der Richtung der übergangsmomente, muß die Orientierung der Moleküle bezüglich der Kristallachsen und deren Konformation bekannt sein. Dazu ist eine Strukturanalyse der spektroskopisch untersuchten Kristalle erforderlich. Während die Struktur des all-trans Retinais sowie die der α-eis Modifikation des 11-ois, 12-s-eie Retinais bereits bekannt war, mußte die der in dieser Arbeit entdeckten ß-cis Modifikation zusätzlich aufgeklärt werden. Für die Aufnahme der Spektren wurde ein Verfahren zur Mikrokristallisation entwickelt, das hinreichend dünne (<0,2μ) Kristallplättchen in den Ebenen (101) für das ali-ivans, (001) für das α-eis und (101) für das ß-cis Retinal liefert, in denen jeweils die Absorptionsspektren gemessen wurden. Bei der Auswertung der Spektren konnte u.a. von der Tatsache Gebrauch gemacht werden, daß α-eis und ß-cis Retinal auf diesen Ebenen eine fast identische Projektion besitzen, die um etwa 10° bezüglich der Achsen dieser Ebenen gedreht ist.Die Analyse der Polarisationsspektren ergab bei all-trans Retinal, daß die Absorption zwischen 23 und 36kK durch drei überlagerte, strukturlose Banden

The dioximes 4–6 and the dimethoximes 7–9, which contain the functional groups in opposite positions of a six‐, eight‐, or ten‐membered ring, were synthesized. Their conformational properties and transannular interactions were investigated by spectroscopic (PE, 13C NMR) and theoretical (MMX, AM1, ab initio HF, and B3LYP) methods. While the cyclooctane derivatives 5 and 8 have conformations favourable for through‐space interactions of the π(CN) orbitals, in the other compounds no such interactions can be ascertained. Through‐space orbital interactions in the molecules with an eight‐membered ring lead to a splitting of the π(CN) MOs of 0.4 eV.
