Ultrastructure of conidiogenesis in the thallic Hyphomycete Oidiodendron griseum

Abstract

Electron microscopy of conidiogenesis in the thallic Hyphomycete Oidiodendron griseum Robak was done on material fixed in glutaraldehyde followed by OsO4. Endohyphae are found at the base of the stalk-like conidiophore. Arthroconidia are formed by basipetal and random septation of the preformed apical fertile hyphae. The thickening of these septa gives the appearance of connectives between adjacent arthroconidia.
