“…Owing to the low morphological resolution of IF, it is difficult to determine the precise localization of the immune complex deposits inside the glomerulus. It is possible that the positive fluorescence, most often for IgG, was caused by labeling antigens in the plasma in the capillary lumen or by labeling antigens which had leaked I47 from the capillaries into the glomerular tissue (13). This theory is supported by the fact that IgG is the immunoglobulin with the highest concentration in plasma, and corresponds well with previous studies (14).…”

“…This might be carried out on frozen sections obtained from glomeruli concentrated in tissue embedding medium, such as OCT. Furthermore, elegant, immunolabeling investigations might more easily be carried out on isolated glomeruli, where penetration of reagents has been shown to be of value (Rossmann et al, 1984; Schreiner and Unanue, 1984). These avenues of investigation may prove important in serial investigation of the pathogenesis of kidney diseases where precise knowledge of anatomical localization of antigens is important.…”
