“…The absence of metastases in puncture channels in our study, however, does not completely rule them out, because follow-up beyond the necessary period of 3 weeks to 48 months was not performed [29]. However, such metastases do occur more commonly after puncture of pancreatic and renal tumors [2,30]. Patient survival is, however, not limited if resectable or ablative treatment follows [31,32].…”

“…They are performed only for patients with suspicion of non-resectable adenocarcinoma in palliative situations [1]. For these patients, pancreatic biopsy does not negatively affect overall survival, and data obtained by use of this method are highly relevant in determining appropriate chemotherapy [2]. In a potentially curative situation, on the other hand, the carcinoma should be surgically removed as quickly as possible.…”

“…In most of the cases, it did not change treatment choice but increased clinicians confidence in the choice, since it established the probable line of treatment as final line of treatment. We can avoid number of investigations especially invasive ones, it helps in decreasing morbidity and mortality, shortening hospitalization and hence is costeffective [4][5][6]12,16,17,19] So, overall the procedure US- …”

“…As technology has improved, CT/ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) or core biopsy have developed into dependable and minimally invasive alternatives for acquiring tissue. Oftentimes, however, the tissue obtained is not sufficient for histologic evaluation or the location of the adenopathy is not amenable to a CT/ultrasound (US)-guided biopsy [2][3][4][5]. While laparotomy remains the gold standard for retroperitoneal lymph node biopsy, it is an invasive procedure associated with prolonged hospital stay and subsequent recovery time.…”
