“…In consistency with our finding, most studies investigating healthy renal size reported negative or insignificant correlations between renal size and age [2, 6, 10, 12, 15, 18, 22, 25, 33], and we would like to further emphasize the quadratic regression with a downward opening, reaching the maximal renal size around the fourth decade of life [16, 22, 32, 3438]. Piras et al also investigated the relationships of kidney size to aging and sex in a general population.…”

“…Furthermore, in the present study, the left kidneys were found to be longer than the right kidneys in both sexes. This is in accordance with the works of Okeke et al, in 2016in Portharcout, Nigeria, Elsayed, in 2012in Saudi Arabia and Saeed et al, in 2012 Reason for this might possibly be due to the presence of liver on the right side being the second largest organ in the body and indenting its weight heavily on the right kidney thereby limiting its potential for normal unrestricted growth (Zira et al, 2017). Furthermore, the shorter renal artery in the left, may allow more nutrient to the left kidney than right artery (Bergman 2018).…”

“…18.19 This inquiry disclosed that the kidneys continue to grow in size until 57 years of age when there is a slight decline in growth. This annotation was similar to the elucidation from studies conducted in Mexico 11 and Nigeria 20 where a fall in renal length after 60 years was noted. However, this scrutinization differs with another study, who noted that the kidneys attain their matured sizes at early adulthood (age 20 to 29 years).…”

“…This finding concurred with the outcome of another similar study done in Nigeria. 20 The reason is attributable to the longer growth spurt in males and also adequate room for the growth of the kidney on the left ascribable to its anatomical site. 24 Furthermore, the presence of the liver on the right side hinders the cadenced growth of the kidney on the right in comparison to the left side of the body.…”
