Ultrasound-assisted removal of Al3+ ions and Alizarin red S by activated carbon engrafted with Ag nanoparticles: central composite design and genetic algorithm optimization

Abstract: In this work, activated carbon engrafted with Ag nanoparticles (Ag-NPs-AC) was prepared and applied for ultrasonic assisted simultaneous removal of aluminum (Al 3+ ) ions and Alizarin red S (ARS) dye from aqueous medium. The physicochemical properties of Ag-NPs-AC were determined by different techniques such as SEM and FTIR. Effects of various operating parameters on the extent of adsorption were investigated. The optimum of condition was determined in order to achieve maximum removal percentage from the binar… Show more

“…In later stage, sample was immediately centrifuged for 5 min at 3500-4000 rpm and BG and EB final concentration was quantified by UV-Vis spectrophotometer according to calibration curve obtained at the similar condition based on derivative spectrometry. Efficiency of dyes removal (R %) and adsorption capacity of adsorbent (Qe) was calculated by the method reported in our previous works [25,26].…”

“…Experimental design generally is appropriate for simultaneous optimization of variables to improve characteristic performance with significant reduction the number of runs and minimization of error . RSM is an appropriate and acceptable optimization approach that is classified with Box–Behnken design, Plackett–Burman design and CCD . CCD as a widely applicable optimization model permits determination of the coefficients in a mathematical form and predicts the response and validation of the model …”
