Abstract: Macroalgae or seaweeds are the most abundant source of bioactive compounds and are commonly found in three major groups of marine algae, Chlorophyceae (green algae), Phaeophyceae (brown algae), and Rhodophyceae (red algae) which exhibit numerous promising biological activities (Mohamed et al., 2012).
