“…The ultrasound appearance is nonspecific, hypoechoic, hyperechoic or of mixed echogenicity. A non-enhanced CT scan showed a hypoattenuating mass with necrotic areas 19. Preoperative angiograms can demonstrate pooling of contrast media within this mass, strongly suggesting a diagnosis of hemangioma.…”

“…Also, at US imaging, this neoplasm has specific features such as well-circumscribed mass with heterogeneous echogenicity and diffused irregular anechoic areas with hyperechoic septa (10,11). Moreover, non-contrast-enhanced CT scan shows a well defined, hypo-attenuated mass sometimes with some calcifications, whereas a characteristic peripheral patchy enhancement and a highly dense peripheral rim are shown at contrast-enhanced CT (1,9,10,12,13). Besides, magnetic resonance imaging shows low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and high signal intensity on T2-weighted images, and contrast-enhanced MRI demonstrates delayed centripetal enhancement (6,9,11).…”

“…In 64% of the cases plain radiographs show speckled calcifications throughout the entire lesion which are helpful to distinguish hemangiomas from more common adrenal masses (9,10). Also, at US imaging, this neoplasm has specific features such as well-circumscribed mass with heterogeneous echogenicity and diffused irregular anechoic areas with hyperechoic septa (10,11).…”

“…On CT scans, tumour size, contrast enhancement, and the internal consistency of the mass are used to help rule out differential diagnoses (5). Although reports describe the CT and USG findings for hemangioma as non-specific, some authors have suggested that contrast CT images may be specific enough to yield the correct diagnosis (5). Detection of calcification within the mass may raise suspicion of hemangioma, but other adrenal masses such as carcinoma and cysts may also display this feature (1).…”
