“…The differential diagnosis of urachal abscess should include hematoma, d e~m o i d ,~~ urachal carcinoma, sarcoma of the abdominal peritoneal t~m o r ,~' ,~~ actinomycosis of the greater omentum,31 metastatic carcinoma,5332 ventral or umbilical hernia, and inflammatory lesions. 33 The location of the abdominal wall lesions or abscesses may be within the extraperitoneal fat space, intramuscular or subcutaneous area. 33 Simple demonstration of an abscess within the extraperitoneal fat space of abdominal wall in the midline below umbilicus is not diagnostic for urachal abscess, since this may also be caused by other diseases, e.g., Crohn's disease.33 However, the extension of the abscess to the umbilicus or bladder, and/or the association with umbilical discharge, is a clue to the diagnosis of urachal abscess.…”
