Ultrasonication Assisted Fabrication of Aluminum and Magnesium Matrix Nanocomposites - A Review

Abstract: Recent researches in the domain of casting confirmed that the mechanical properties of aluminum and magnesium based nanocomposites can be appreciably enhanced when ultrasonic cavitation assisted solidification processing is used. Ultrasonic cavitation assisted solidification processing is used for the manufacturing of aluminum and magnesium alloy based metal matrix nanocomposites reinforced with nanoceramic particles. In this solidification processing, formation of clusters have been minimized and the nanorein… Show more

“…Sonic streaming improves nanoparticle movement and homogeneous dispersal in the liquid melt at the same time. [40][41][42] A review of the literature reveals that there has been little research into the corrosion and stress-dependent high cycle fatigue characteristics of hybrid nanoparticulatereinforced Mg-Zn alloys. The effects of hybrid nanoreinforcement (SiC P + hBN P ) weight percent on the mechanical, corrosion, and fatigue strength of Mg nanocomposites manufactured using an ultrasonication-assisted squeeze casting process were investigated in this study.…”
