Ultrasonic Studies on Molecular Interactions in Binary Mixtures of N-Methyl Aniline with Methyl Isobutylketone, +3-Pentanone, and +Cycloalkanones at 303.15 K

Abstract: Densities, ρ, viscosities, η, and ultrasonic sound velocities u of pure methyl isobutylketone, diethylketone, cyclopentanone, cyclohexanone, 2-methyl cyclohexanone and those of their binary mixtures with N-methyl aniline were measured at 303.15 K over the entire composition range. These experimental data have been used to calculate the excess volume (VE), deviation in ultrasonic sound velocity (∆u), isentropic compressibility (κs), intermolecular free length (Lf), excess intermolecular free length (), acoustic… Show more

“…The deviations in isentropic compressibility, Dj s , were calculated using equation (3): The interactions between the binary mixtures lead to the decrease in the free-space, thereby contributing to the negative deviation in isentropic compressibility [38]. The deviation in isentropic compressibility, Dj s , over the entire composition range of [BMIM] + [SCN] À for both systems is plotted in figure 5.…”

“…On mixing, ethyl acetoacetate being more polar will induce a dipole moment in the ketone molecule, which might lead to a weak dipole-induced dipole interaction between the component molecules. Negative deviation in viscosities, η E , was also being observed due to the differences in molecular size of component molecules [16][17][18] as in the present binary mixtures. The magnitude of negative values of excess viscosities, η E ( Fig.…”

“…This fact is well known as the transport phenomenon and thermo-physical properties of mixed solvents. The present study is a continuation of our earlier research [1][2][3][4] on thermodynamic properties of binary liquid mixtures. The liquids were chosen in the present investigation on the basis of their industrial importance.…”
