Ultrasonic-assisted in-situ fabrication of BiOBr modified Bi2O2CO3 microstructure with enhanced photocatalytic performance

Abstract: Via an ultrasonic-assisted in-situ etching method, BiOBr modified BiOCO microstructures were fabricated in short time. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, UV-Vis, XPS and PL spectra methods. Rhodamine B (RhB) aqueous solution was applied to evaluate the photocatalytic activities of the as-prepared samples. The results showed that the sample prepared at pH of 2 in which the molar ratio of BiOBr and BiOCO was 0.69:1 had the largest specific surface area, the best utilization for ultraviolet and… Show more

“…17,33 With excessive urea precursor added, a new tetragonal phase of Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 (JCPDS no. 41-1488) was indexed in 1.2N-BiOBr, [34][35][36] implying the as-prepared 1.2N-BiOBr is a two-phase hybrid, including N-doped BiOBr and Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 . This indicates that excess urea as a carbonate source can form Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 with Bi salts.…”

“…Ultrasonic processing has been used to process the mixtures of reaction for a suitable time. For example, Cheng et al [101] used this method for synthesizing of BiOBr/Bi2O2CO3 binary composite. Firstly, Bi2O2CO3 was synthesized by dissolving 1.4553 g of Bi (NO3)3•5H2O in 60 mL of diluted HNO3.…”

“…There have been many methods to solve the problem of organic dye contamination in environment, such as adsorption [ 2 , 3 ], membrane separation [ 4 , 5 ], biological decomposition [ 6 ], chemical oxidation [ 7 ], electrocatalysis [ 8 ] and photocatalysis [ 9 , 10 ] decomposition. Among them, the use of solar photocatalysis for the degradation of organic pollutants is considered one of the most promising and efficient strategies [ 11 , 12 ].…”
