Ultimate Strength of Dented Narrow Stiffened Panels Subjected to Compressive Loads

Abstract: This paper investigates the collapse behaviour of stiffened panels with a local dent under axial compressive load. The damage on plates is simulated by quasi-static nonlinear FEM, which accounts for the residual stresses caused by a dent and the springback of the stiffened panels. The material properties used in the finite element analysis have been evaluated by tensile tests.
